I have heard of certain groups and organizations made up of individuals referring to themselves as "angelkin."  Are you affiliated in any way with any of these groups or individuals?

No, we have no affiliation with any of these groups, organizations, or individuals. Only Words of Love is a division of The Institute for Spiritual Development, a Metaphysical church located in Washington, DC. Our little Angelkins help to support the mission of our Church; which is, in part, to promote spiritual awareness, foster spiritual growth, and offer spiritual guidance to those seeking it. We chose to call them "Angelkins" because, when it came time to select a name, the ISD Board of Directors fell in love with it and would not hear of anything else.

How do I know which Intention Angelkin is right for me?

The first step in selecting an Angelkin is to ask yourself "What is it that I want to accomplish, or that I want to improve in my life?" Once you have formed this intention clearly in your mind, it is simply a matter of selecing the Angelkin that most closely matches your intention. To help you in this process, we have provided a list summarizing the three general areas in which the Angelkin can provide the greatest assistance (found on the bottom front of the Angelkin package and on the product pages of our website). If you find that more than one Angelkin addresses your intention, you can either select the one you feel most drawn to, or you can choose to work with both of them simultaneously. For instance, if your job requires you to travel to a country where you are concerned for your safety, you may want to use both the Angel of Travel and the Angel of Protection Angelkins.

Do I have to use the prayer of intention that came with my Angelkin?

No. While we do recommend that you use some sort of prayer when charging or re-energizing your Angelkin to help focus your thoughts, you do not need to use the prayer that is provided. In fact, we encourage you to develop your own prayer that more specifically addresses your personal intention and desires. As you spend more time focusing your thoughts on your intention, you will most likely begin to add clarity to it. For instance, working with the Angel of Love Angelkin, you may begin by asking for a new relationship. As you spend time focusing on this intention, you will likely begin to identify personality traits you would like this person to have such as to be patient and a good communicator, to share your love of music and hiking, to be outgoing, etc. You can add this clarity to your initial desire for a new relationship by including them in your prayer of intention or by simply stating them as you charge your Angelkin.

What is a Lightworker?

At the Institute For Spiritual Development, Lightworkers are members of our church who, through meditation, educational classes, personal introspection, and spiritual growth, have developed a more conscious awareness of their spiritual nature and have chosen a path of guiding others in attaining a greater awareness and understanding of their own spiritual nature. The Lightworkers selected to bless our Angelkins are especially attuned to working with and directing their energy for spiritual purposes.

What is Reiki?

In simple terms, Reiki is an ancient, alternative-healing practice that harnesses the healing energy of the Universal Life Force - the energy field that surrounds all beings - for the purpose of restoring mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual balance. Reiki practioners undergo extensive training and practice to learn to consciously open themselves to the Universal Life Force and spiritually direct this energy to where it is most needed. Reiki is a passive healing technique in that the practioner, upon opening to and allowing the Universal Life Force to flow through and from their physical body, makes this energy available to their client without actually directing the energy into the client's body. Rather, the client determines the extent to which the energy will flow into their body by the extent to which they choose to open themselves to it. The more open their are to the healing energy, the more freely it will flow through them and the more benefit they will receive.

What does it mean that Angelkins are blessed by Lightworkers and charged by a Reiki Master?

This means that our Angelkins are energetically charged with both spiritual and healing energy. Each time a group of Angelkins for a particualr intention or affirmation is assembed, the Lightworkers and Reiki Master(s) of the Institute For Spiritual Development gather around the Angelkins and, holding the specific intention in their minds, open themselves to allow the Universal Life Force to flow through them. They then direct this energy into the Angelkins themselves with the intention that it will be available to the ultimate owner of the Angelkin when he or she is ready to work with it, and that it will assist them in finding the answers and assistance they seek.

How can I clean my Affirmation Bracelet?

Our Affirmation Bracelets are made from a strong, color-fast nylon cord that can safely be handwashed with a mild detergent in warm water. Do not put your bracelet in a washing machine or dryer as, at a minimum, these are likely to damage the gemstone beads.

Do I need to clear or clean my Intention Angelkin or Affirmation Angelkin?

Because our Angelkins are made with gemstone crystal beads that have been charged with a healing intention, it is a good idea to clear or clean them from time to time. You can tell they need to be cleared if they are looking a bit dull or if you "feel" they need to be cleaned. We recommend using a white sage smudge bundle (available at most metaphysical shops). It has been scientifically proven that the smoke from burning sage will attract positive ions to it, leaving your crystals with a healthy negative charge.  In a well ventilated room, carefully light the sage bundle - once your sage bundle is lit, you will not see a flame; instead it will begin to smoulder. Allow the smoke from the sage bundle to flow around the healing crystals until they once again look bright or until you "feel" they are clean. You can extinguish your sage bundle by putting the burning end in sand or by thoroughly tapping it out on a fire-proof container; the remaining sage can be saved and used again later.
